Roger and Mary Lowe
As an MSW student from 1985-87, Mary Lowe enjoyed some really great instructors, engaging conversations with fellow students, and wonderful practicum experiences at the University Medical Center—which gave her valuable training leading the Social Work OB/GYN department and then working collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team on the rehabilitation unit; Roger worked his way up to a leadership role in a food industry. They both see the value in the social work profession. So much so that in 2001 they set up the Roger M. & Mary F. Lowe Legacy Endowed Scholarship in the College of Social Work. “We’re getting more mature,” says Mary. “We can’t do a whole lot more ourselves, but we can help others become educated and dedicated to serving, so now we do what we can to help send people out into the world who know what they are doing and who can listen."
