Mark & Mary Jane Taylor
A scholarship fund was established in 2016 to honor Dr. Grant R. and Esther H. Taylor. Dr. Taylor practiced dentistry in Salt Lake City from 1956 to 1979. He was an innovator, inventor and humanitarian who was loved and respected by his patients. In retirement, he continued to share his professional skills where they were most needed. He served two humanitarian missions providing dental care to the people of Taiwan and Costa Rica. He helped his friend, Burl Ives, establish an orphanage in Guaymas San Carlos, Mexico. Together, Grant and Esther raised three children who were taught the values of integrity, thrift and compassion for others. They were both adored by their children. Dr. and Mrs. Taylor leave behind a dental legacy of two sons who have sought to emulate their father by following him into the profession of dentistry. Grant and Esther were both children of the Depression, where debt was common and its consequence stifling. This scholarship fund is intended to help deserving students begin their careers with less debt, thus helping them in their ability to pursue the independent practice of dentistry.
