Physics & Astronomy General Scholarship Application -- Graduate

Welcome to the Department of Physics & Astronomy General Scholarship application. There are several scholarship opportunities available to current graduate students in the Department of Physics & Astronomy:

  • J.Irvin and Norma K. Swigart Graduate Scholarship Named in honor of former faculty member J. Irwin Swigart and endowed through the J. Irvin and Norma K. Swigart Endowed Scholarship Fund, the Scholarship provides a $2000 scholarship award to the student, and additional $1000 in travel support for presentation of a paper at a relevant conference, and up to $2000 of support for the student’s TA or RA stipend.
  • Diversity Scholarship for exceptional commitment to the advancement of women and underrepresented groups in the fields of physics and astronomy
  • Outstanding Student awards, including Teaching Assistant

Applications must be submitted by MARCH 15th, 2020

*Applicants must be Physics & Astronomy graduate students.

Scholarships are awarded for the 2020‐2021 academic year. Students graduating before Fall 2020 are not eligible for the Swigart Scholarship.

It may also include information such as: career goals, why you are applying to the scholarship, pertinent scholarly accomplishments, extracurricular activities, leadership positions, community service, etc.
  3. Please upload an unofficial copy of your transcripts from all colleges attended and/or high school transcripts for incoming freshman. If all courses, including transfer courses, show-up on your degree audit, please upload this instead.
