College of Science General Scholarship for New Students (Incoming Freshmen)

Welcome to the College of Science Scholarship for New Students (Incoming Freshmen). There are several scholarship opportunities available to incoming freshman students. Scholarships are awarded for the 2020-21 academic year. Applicants must be planning to major in the College of Science (Majors: Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, and Physics).

  • Freshman Scholarship in Science – $1,000 award
  • Crocker Science House Residential Living Opportunity – $1,000 award
  • Sandra J. Bromley Scholarship – four-year tuition waiver scholarship covers up to 15 credit hours per semester for eight semesters. (This award is for Utah residents only).

Applications must be submitted by March 1, 2020.

Incomplete applications will not be considered. Applications must include all of the following:

  • a personal statement
  • two letters of recommendation from science or mathematics teachers
  • a current transcript

  2. Prepare a personal statement describing your background, academic interests, career objectives and professional goals and include a statement of any financial need you are facing.
  3. List any pertinent accomplishments, research awards, community involvement or activities, or recognition you have received.
  4. Submit an OFFICIAL high school transcript including your ACT, SAT and/or AP test scores. If ACT, SAT, and/or AP scores are not included on transcript, email official test scores to office@science.utah.edu.
