The Whisner-Appleby scholarship memorializes the lives of Professors Peter Appleby and William Whisner. The scholarship awards $4,000 to a student majoring in philosophy, to be used for tuition and books.
The scholarship is need-based, where financial “need” is determined by the Office of Financial Aid. Applicants must be enrolled as full-time students (12 hours or more) for both the fall and spring semesters of the scholarship period, and they should have a cumulative GPA of 2.0. Additionally, applicants are to submit a personal statement. (See the application form for further details about the financial need qualification, as well as the personal statement.)
