Gayle Richards Lawrence Endowed Scholarship

The Gayle Richards Lawrence Endowed Scholarship awards an outstanding graduate or undergraduate student in Parks, Recreation and Tourism. In addition to demonstrating high academic achievement, the recipient will also be in financial need. Applicants should be actively involved in a professional parks, recreation, tourism and/or leisure organization at the local, state, regional and/or national level. Preference will be given to applicants who share characteristics with Ms. Lawrence, namely professionalism, warmth, kindness, congeniality, loyalty, dedication, perseverance, and caring towards and consideration for others. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.2.
About the award:
This scholarship was established in 1998 by Gayle Richards Lawrence for students in Parks, Recreation and Tourism. Gayle served as a secretary, executive secretary, administrative secretary and administrative assistant in Parks, Recreation and Tourism for over fifteen years. She was known for her warmth, professionalism and consideration of others. Her dedication, perseverance and devotion to the students, faculty and staff was given freely and always with a smile.
