The Virginia Lee Becraft Scholarship
Virginia Lee Becraft was an exquisite singer, songwriter, and music composer. She was a respected and renowned voice, speech, and diction coach in New York City. Virginia’s students include Tony, Emmy, and Grammy award nominees and winners. Virginia was a passionate educator who adored her students.
She derived great joy from guiding their development, cultivating their talents, and helping them find their voice. She encouraged her students to aspire to bring about positive change in the world. She strived to uplift everyone around her. Virginia lived with kindness, compassion, empathy, and love.This scholarship was created by Virginia Becraft’s son and University of Utah alum, Alexander Becraft in honor of his mother.
Qualifications
The Virginia Lee Becraft Scholarship will be awarded to a student who demonstrates creativity, resilience, and a desire to positively impact this world. Priority will be given to first-generation college students and those who demonstrate financial need.
- Demonstrates a desire to positively impact this world;
- Enroll in 12 or more credits during the 2023-2024 academic year;
- Be seeking your first undergraduate degree.
- Complete a FAFSA
- Preference will be given to first-generation students and students who can demonstrate financial need
