LEAP Asha Davenport Memorial Scholarship

Asha was a freshman at the University of Utah at the time of her accidental death. She loved University life and all it had to offer including becoming a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority and the MUSS. Asha loved community service and helping others and she especially enjoyed her Community Engaged Learning LEAP class. Every year, the Davenport family generously offers two $2,000 scholarships to University of Utah LEAP students.

Required Documents

Current Unofficial Transcript or DARS

Typed personal statement of about 500 words. Help with writing strong personal statements can be obtained at the Writing Center, the Career Center, and from Student Success Coaches.

The statement should address the topic: “How my LEAP experience has advanced my understanding of community service on campus or in my local community.”

Additional Scholarship Requirements:
A Minimum 2.5 GPA.
Must have completed two semesters of LEAP by May 2024.


Conditions



  • Any Scholarship award will apply to the 2024-25 academic year, and will be paid in two equal installments, fall and spring semesters.

  • You must demonstrate through your personal statement and/or resume your qualifications for this scholarship.

  • All materials must be submitted electronically. Materials are due no later than 11:59pm on March 1, 2024.

  • Students must have completed one section of LEAP and be enrolled in the second semester of LEAP, or have already finished two LEAP courses.
