ABOUT THE FOUNDERS

The A. Ray Olpin Union at the University of Utah promotes leadership among students from all backgrounds and identities within the campus community by cultivating an environment that serves students by providing social, cultural, leadership, and co-curricular opportunities. The University Union strives to provide leadership opportunities and real-world experiences by offering a training ground where students can practice those skills.

The University of Utah School of Music offers academic and performance degrees at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral level. It provides a core of general music courses to enhance appreciation of music as an art form. It serves as the intellectual, educational, and culture center for musical activities at the U, broader community, and nation.

PURPOSE

Selected by application, the Union Music Service Scholarship provides one $5,000 scholarship to help recipients accomplish their academic goals. It seeks to recognize and encourage undergraduate or graduate students who share their musical skills with our community’s underserved populations.

The scholarship provides $2,500 per semester for the fall 2024 and spring 2025 semesters, totaling $5,000.

The successful applicant demonstrates their commitment to the purpose of the scholarship by their previous and future performances, presentations, or musical activities.
