Alumni Undergraduate Legacy Scholarship for Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors

Open to sophomores, juniors and seniors who will be full time students beginning Fall 2024. This application is not open to incoming freshman. Incoming freshman may apply for the Alumni Legacy Scholarship for Incoming Freshman.

 

Applicant must:

  1. Have at least one grandparent or parent who graduated from the University of Utah
  2. Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3
  3. Demonstrate academic excellence; other scholarships received and service to the University of Utah and community may also be considered in the selection process

Incomplete applications will not be considered. Application forms must include all of the following: 

  • a current transcript
  • name and email of a reference for a letter of recommendation

Tell us about a time that you faced a challenge, setback or failure. How did this affect you and what did you learn from the experience? 2. Reflect on a time you questioned, or were questioned about, a belief or idea. What prompted your thinking? What was the outcome? 3. Describe a problem you have solved or a problem you would like to solve. It can be an intellectual challenge, a research query or an ethical dilemma. Explain its significance to you and what steps you took or could be taken to identify a solution.
  13. Upload a 1‐page resume with ALL of the following sections:

    • Work experience, including internships.
    • Honors and awards, including dates received.
    • Special activities related to your academic studies, including dates.
    • Special programs or organizations outside your academic studies, including dates.

    We suggest you work with the Career & Professional Development Center to ensure your resume is written to professional standards.

  14. Upload a current transcript. Students may download unofficial transcripts directly from the Campus Information System (CIS) if you are a current University of Utah student. High school students should upload their most recent high school transcript.
  15. Please provide a phone number we can use to contact you about the scholarship.
  16. Please provide the name and email address of someone that can speak to your academic ability. The reference will be emailed from the scholarship system to provide information to support your application. If you are requesting a letter from someone with a University of Utah email, you must use this format: uXXXXXXX@utah.edu. Please check back before the application deadline of March 8 to make sure your reference has submitted a letter. Applications without a letter will be considered incomplete and will not be reviewed.
