Summit Scholars Scholarship

Background: Provided by the Park City Community Foundation, this scholarship is established to provide an opportunity for students who continue to face COVID-19-related challenges covering essential expenses associated with college attendance, including tuition, medical bills, rent, food, as well as expenses associated with transportation to commute to classes. Moreover, students who do not qualify for federal or state assistance due to their immigration status are finding it exceptionally challenging to cover their tuition expenses to continue their education. These students and their families have been disproportionately impacted by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and face staggering economic challenges due to COVID-19-related loss of employment, medical, and other unplanned expenses. Therefore, these students are facing a more significant financial barrier than before to cover their tuition expenses due to COVID-19.

*Criteria: *As allowable by law and University policy, preference may be given to students from:
- Mixed-status families, undocumented students who graduated from a high school in Summit or Wasatch counties
- Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients who graduated from a high school in Summit or Wasatch counties

Applicants must submit a personal statement regarding ways they have been disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and how these unprecedented challenges interrupted and/or negatively impacted their ability to pursue their college education. The candidate will be selected by the scholarship coordinator and committee in the Center for Equity & Student Belonging.
