CSAR Robert (Archie) Archuleta Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Center for Student Access & Resources and the Board of Trustees of the Robert (Archie) Archuleta Memorial Scholarship Fund are pleased to offer the Robert (Archie) Archuleta Memorial Scholarship.
Robert (Archie) Archuleta was a prominent civil rights activist in the state of Utah. He was a grammar schoolteacher and principal in the Salt Lake City District for 34 years and served on many community boards and organizations. He obtained his bachelor’s degree from Idaho State University and an education specialist degree from the University of Utah in 1982. Archie received numerous awards and accolades for his community service throughout his life. In 2019 he received an honorary doctoral degree from the University of Utah, the highest honor given by the university, at their 2019 annual commencement ceremony.
The Robert (Archie) Archuleta Memorial Scholarship Fund awards scholarships to incoming first-year students (Utah high school graduates), current undergraduate students, and to graduate students at the University of Utah. Eligible students are selected based on life challenges, scholastic effort, and who have demonstrated commitment and service to the Latinx community. Preference will be given to first-generation students who are civically engaged and demonstrate involvement in community activities that support and strengthen the Latinx community. Financial need may strongly influence the final selection.
