Recovery at the U Scholarship
Recovery at the U (RU) is a collegiate recovery program at the University of Utah and is awarding eight total scholarships to eligible students. There are 2 scholarship types offered: RU Champion ($2000) and RU Collaborator ($500).
RU Champions (award amount: $2000) will be expected to dedicate 3 hours per week for 14 weeks in one semester to Recovery at the U. This can be achieved through many different opportunities that include but are not limited to: attending an on-campus recovery meeting, facilitating an on-campus recovery meeting, attending an RU-related event, attending an RU-sponsored volunteering event, speaking to your peers/friends on campus about RU, creating a social media post or flyer promoting recovery, dedicating your personal meditation practice to RU, and more.
RU Collaborators (award amount: $500) will be expected to dedicate 10 hours in one semester to Recovery at the U. This can be achieved through many different opportunities that include but are not limited to: attending an on-campus recovery meeting, facilitating an on-campus recovery meeting, attending an RU-related event, attending an RU-sponsored volunteering event, speaking to your peers/friends on campus about RU, creating a social media post or flyer promoting recovery, dedicating your personal meditation practice to RU, and more.
Eligibility:
- Undergraduate or graduate students with a minimum of 1 semester remaining
- Part-time and full-time students, minimum 1 credit hour
- Students with lived experiences: in or seeking recovery from addiction AND/OR have a loved one who has lived experience with addiction
- There is no requirement for sobriety/abstinence.
- Service commitment following scholarship award: one semester as an RU Champion or RU Collaborator for Recovery at the U
