Marion Farouk-Sluglett Award Paper Competition

The Marion Farouk-Sluglett Memorial Award was established in 1997 in honor of Dr. Marion Farouk-Sluglett, an internationally-recognized scholar of the modern Middle East and Iraqi politics who taught at the University of Utah from September 1994 until her untimely death in February 1996.

Eligibility
Open to all University of Utah undergraduate and graduate students. Must be enrolled at the time of submission.

Paper & Submission Requirements
 Paper must be on a Middle East topic written in English.
 No specific length requirement. Papers are generally 5-20 pages for undergraduates and 20-40 for graduates (double-spaced).
 You are encouraged to make use of your professor’s critique of your paper and rewrite it if necessary before submitting it.
 Edit your paper carefully and present as polished and professional a paper as possible.
