The Joseph E. Beaumont, MD and Patricia R. Richards Scholarship in the University of Utah Physician Assistant Program in the School of Medicine at the University of Utah
Joe is a retired nephrologist who cared for people with kidney disease throughout his entire career. He cares very much about deeply understanding medicine and always striving to know everything possible about a topic.
Patricia is a Nurse who worked primarily with non-profit health insurance companies, helping expand access to healthcare via the insurance side of things. She eventually worked her way to being president and CEO of Select Health. She has always emphasized integrity, hard work, incredible work ethic and responsibility. She cares deeply about making sure people, especially children, can access healthcare.
Both believe one way to improve their community is to improve health. They would like to help the next generation of PA’s on their journey to improve health.
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
1. The applicant must be a Physician Assistant Student enrolled in the Utah Physician Assistant Studies Program, be in their final year of studies, and be in good standing.
2. The applicant should be able to demonstrate financial need.
3. The applicant must be able to demonstrate financial need.
4. Preference will be given to applicants who plan to work in Utah upon graduation.
5. Award will be given to at least one male and one female student.
