Gretchen Sue Weber Memorial Scholarship

The Gretchen Sue Weber Memorial Endowed Scholarship recognizes an outstanding undergraduate in Parks, Recreation and Tourism who is actively involved on committees, special activities and programs in the Department, and is in need of financial assistance. The recipient will demonstrate high academic achievement, a concern for the environment, and exemplify the same love and zest for life so evident in Gretchen Sue. Specifically, the awardee will have a fun-loving and adventurous personality, be actively involved in outdoor recreation, be willing to pursue new challenges and adventures, and be modest about her or his accomplishments.
About the award:
This award is presented in honor of the memory of Gretchen Sue Weber, a Parks, Recreation, and Tourism undergraduate student who perished in a skiing accident on Baldy Shutes at Alta Ski Resort on March 20, 1980. Gretchen was a vibrant, bright and enthusiastic young woman. The award was developed by her family and friends at the University of Utah and is given annually to recognize one student who best exemplifies the characteristics of Gretchen.
