Native Ascent Scholars Program

The Native Ascent Scholars Program awards academically focused American Indian students a housing scholarship and provides them with a continuous, supportive living-learning experience. The program is designed to foster community, academic growth, and personal development through targeted programming and peer support. To apply, students must request an application by emailing native-excellence@utah.edu.

What does the Native Ascent Scholars Program offer?
Scholarship recipients will receive funding for fall and spring semesters that covers on-campus housing and a full meal plan. Awardee must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher to be renewable each year.

Who is eligible?

  • Individuals from a federally recognized American Indian Tribe, with preference given to students who are enrolled members of, or have at least one parent or grandparent who is an enrolled member of, one of Utah’s Tribes.
  • Be a current high school senior.
  • Have applied or will apply to the University of Utah (scholarships will only be awarded to those granted admission to the University of Utah).
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Show demonstrated financial need to attend college.
