Linguistics Department Scholarship

Available to undergraduate linguistics majors with a 3.5 GPA or higher. Must be a Utah resident, entering freshmen, transfer or continuing students seeking a first bachelor’s degree. Students seeking a second bachelor’s degree are not eligible.
The recipient will receive $2500 per semester (fall and spring) for a total of $5000. This funding must be applied toward the cost of tuition only. The recipient must maintain full-time student status during the year of the award.
This scholarship will be awarded for the 2019-2020 academic year.
Required materials include:

  • Audit from My Degree Dashboard or university transcripts. (Incoming freshmen should submit high school transcripts)
  • A statement of purpose letter that is approximately one page in length and outlines your proposed schedule of courses for the academic year. It also includes other information such as your background in linguistics, how you became interested in linguistics, why you think you deserve the scholarship and your future plans after graduation, to the extent that you now know them. You may include other information that you believe is relevant to the selection committee’s appraisal of your candidacy.
