Occupational Therapy Scholarship Application

This is the general application for all of the scholarships offered by Occupational Therapy. Applicants will be matched to a scholarship based on the criteria for each of the following:

  • Joseph Ray and Lorna S. Broadbent Scholarship: This scholarship was set up by Joseph Ray and Lorna S. Broadbent in honor of their son, Joseph Broadbent, who was injured in a most serious truck accident. During his stay at University Hospital he overcame numerous obstacles involving much therapy to return to his home and work. This scholarship is to be awarded to a student of good character pursuing a career in occupational therapy having financial need and excelling academically.
  • Gordon and Betty Browning Scholarship: This scholarship was set up in by the estate of Gordon & Betty Browning for students at the University of Utah health science areas of discipline including the College of Health and Division of Occupational Therapy. This scholarship will be awarded to a second or third year occupational therapy student for academic excellence and commitment to the profession of occupational therapy.
  • Ronald L. and Dona P. Call Scholarship: The Ronald L. and Dona P. Call Scholarship in Occupational Therapy was established by Dona P. Call to “help and support worthy students.” This scholarship is to be awarded to a first year student who can demonstrate a strong commitment to their education as an occupational therapist and/or who is actively involved in student organizations. They must also demonstrate a financial need.
  • Chen and Zee Family Scholarship: The Chen and Zee Family Scholarship in Occupational Therapy was established by Eunice Chen to “help and support worthy students.” This scholarship is to be awarded to a female, non-traditional student.
  • Don B. Hutchison Scholarship: This scholarship was set up by the family of Donald B. Hutchison for students enrolled in University of Utah health science areas including the College of Health and Division of Occupational Therapy. This scholarship will be awarded for academic excellence, financial need and service, either paid or unpaid, assisting and/or advocating for those facing occupational barriers.
  • G. Mitchell Morris Scholarship: This scholarship was the first scholarship in the Division of Occupational Therapy. Mrs. Morris and her husband are very interested in assisting students in their educational endeavors and are committed to the advancement of healthcare. This scholarship is to be awarded to a student who has demonstrated their involvement in volunteer and service oriented activities which benefit the larger community. Preference will be given to applicants who have provided volunteer service in areas of emerging practice related to occupational therapy.
  • Occupational Therapy Alumni Scholarship: This scholarship was set up by the alumni of the Division of Occupational Therapy. This scholarship will be awarded for excellence in promoting occupational therapy in the community through leadership and creative involvement.
  • Eugene D. and Ann O. Wright Family Scholarship: This scholarship was set up by the family of Eugene D. and Ann O. Wright to benefit occupational therapy student who will be progressive in their chosen career as an occupational therapist. This scholarship will be awarded for academic excellence and commitment to the creative practice of occupational therapy.
